How did you attract/ address the audience?
Target Audience
When we came up with the target audience for our film, we decided to range it between 15 years old to 30, having that big of a gap of young to old males would be engaged and interested within the production as there is a lot of action compared to traditional noir films which have very little of action. So we felt that modernising the film and adding more action the our target audience would enjoy as our target audience is an important aspect to our production. When we done our research we found that men preffered action film, so we decided to come under that category dominating the noir films.
First Draft Feeback
We decided to show the class our first draft, and also gave them a questionnaire to fill out at the end. This meant that we would recieve legit responses as they fit in with our target audience. Most of the responses we got back was all positive which was shoking for a first draft so we were really pleased with our production. There was two clips the audience said that didnt fit well which we deleted after the first draft. The questionnaire became our viable source of feedback so we decided to work on whatever the critisms were on the questionnaire and applied it to the final one.
Decisions we made to attract our target audience
When planning and organising our target audience we thought that we should differ from the typical/ traditional noir films but still include all the other basic conventions which we reckon people would prefer based on our research we done before hand. Our opening title sequence breaks the typical conventions of a noir opening title sequence by making it start where the action happens instead of having an OTS which dragged on as we felt that our men target audience would prefer to get straight in watching it making them more engaged to the film by just watching the opening title sequence. We decided to add snippets of different locations within the OTS to create more enigmas for the target audience. Based from the feedback we recieved after showing it to the class, they said that it fit properly and that the target audience for this kind of film is definitly for men aged around our age range. When picking the right soundtrack for our final production, we did not want a typical jazz music as it would not of have fitted with the modernised film.
